“Governor Cuomo and the legislative leaders’ progressive tax deal is a step in the right direction for New York. The new income tax rates will generate revenue for essential investments from repairing roads to funding our schools.
But to get New York’s economy on the right track requires progressive reforms in the corporate tax code with further revenues for the kinds of infrastructure, services and decent paying jobs essential to a thriving economy.
The Center congratulates New York’s community, labor and elected leaders for this first step. We also thank the Occupy Albany and Wall Street protesters for their strong advocacy.”
