Statement from Anthony Ng, Green & Equitable Economies Strategist on Governor Cuomo’s State of the State Address

“Governor Cuomo’s plan to jump start the use of on-bill recovery, the Green Jobs-Green NY financing mechanism, will speed the creation of new jobs and reduce the state’s greenhouse gas emissions. With it, the Governor again demonstrates his commitment to jobs and the environment.

This innovative financing mechanism will eventually allow hundreds of thousands of moderate-income homeowners to get upfront loans for energy-efficiency improvements that can be repaid on their utility bills through reduced energy use.

The Governor describes the agreement he has made with the utilities to offer on-bill recovery sooner, in his written Annual Message, ‘Building a New New York…with you’ (http://www.governor.ny.gov/assets/documents/Building-a-New-New-York-Book.pdf,  page 14).”
