Five Goals for 2012

January 6, 2012

_______________________

1) Reduce big money’s influence in politics. Governor Cuomo pledged to push for a system of public financing of elections in his State of the State address. We and our allies are organizing to help make it happen.

2) Make taxes fairer. We’re working to make sure Governor Cuomo’s tax fairness commission cracks down on those who don’t pay their fair share.

3) Start a state public bank.  These innovative institutions can team up with community banks and credit unions to ease access to credit for small businesses, helping them create jobs.

4) Create good green jobs. We’re working to ensure that jobs created by the Green Jobs/Green NY program pay decently and provide adequate benefits.

5) Make decent pensions available to all workers—no matter how they earn a living. New York can help make it happen.
